An argument about the school’s policy against wearing open-toe shoes left a mother facing charges after she struck a school administrator. What We Know: Danielle Alleyne was one of many parents who didn’t see their children graduate. School officials say several students wore shoes that were not in compliance with the school’s dress code. The Atlanta Public Schools Police Department sent an officer to Drew Charter on May 22nd around 8:45 p.m. The facility manager of the school greeted the officer and informed them of the incident. Former NFL Player and coach Eugene Chung were told he was not the “right minority” during a job interview. What We Know: The NFL announced Monday that it would investigate allegations from the Korean-American coach. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy has stated they would “review” the incident and goes on to say the comment was “inappropriate” and “contrary to league values.” The 51-years-old coach has declined to name the team he applied for. Allegedly, Chung’s interviewer initially claimed that he wasn’t a minority. The three liberal justices in the Supreme Court critiqued the court’s other six-member conservative majority who refused to hear an appeal by a brain-damaged death row inmate. What We Know: Convicted killer Ernest Johnson is on death row and put on a request to be executed by a firing squad. Johnson told the court that death by lethal injection would be so painful it would violate the Constitution’s ban on cruel and unusual punishment. On Tuesday, Governor Bill Lee signed legislation into law that bans gender-confirming treatment for transgender youth. What We Know: The action is the latest in a series of new laws in the state that Democrats argue target trans individuals. Lee signed the bill without issuing any type of public statement from his office.  Tennessee’s new transgender youth health law goes into effect immediately. The law bans doctors from providing gender-confirming hormone treatment, including puberty blockers before they reach puberty. What We Know: The school’s board of trustees decided not to give tenure to Pulitzer prize-winning journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones. Hannah-Jones is known for her pioneering work on institutional racism with the 1619 Project.
