A general manager for the New York Mets is fired after sending a female reporter sexually explicit texts.  What We Know:  Jared Porter was fired Tuesday after ESPN reported he sent unsolicited and sexually explicit texts. Porter was the general manager of the New York Mets. He sent a female reporter the texts back in 2016. The network obtained the messages in 2017, but it was never reported because of the woman’s fear of backlash. Steve Cohen, the owner of the Mets, went to Twitter to discuss Porter’s termination. A Denver 18-year-old dies after contracting coronavirus for the second time.  What We Know:  Wilber Portillo died after reinfection of coronavirus in November. In an interview with KDVR, Portillo’s girlfriend, Andrea Ferrel, stated, “He was just getting better. He had about a week of COVID-free before getting sick again.”  According to PEOPLE, Portillo was a CEC Early College graduate. A man part of the January 6th attack at the U.S. Capitol has been arrested and accused of threatening to shoot children if turned in.  What We Know: Guy Reffitt was apart of the U.S. Capitol storming. He was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice and knowingly entering a restricted building without lawful authority. Saved By the Bell Star, Dustin Diamond announced his stage four cancer diagnosis.  What We Know: News of Diamond’s hospitalization came earlier this week and his diagnosis was confirmed Thursday night by his team. Johns Hopkins University has recorded a new record in U.S. coronavirus deaths in a single day. What We Know:  More than 4,300 U.S. deaths were recorded by Johns Hopkins University Tuesday, a new record. The nation’s death toll surpassing 380,000. In the eighth consecutive day of new cases topping over 200,000, Tuesday recorded 215,000 new cases. The Wall Street Journal reports more than 22.8 million people have tested positive for the virus.  The new record of 4,327 deaths surpasses the previous records. As America nears the last week under the Trump administration, a new rule allows adoption agencies can discriminate against same-sex parents.  What We Know:  The Department of Health and Human Services has finalized a rule that allows government-funded social-service providers to discriminate based on sexual orientation and gender identity. A manatee in Florida was discovered with President Trump’s name on its side. What We Know: Officials found a manatee in the Homosassa River on Monday. The word “TRUMP” was etched into its side.
